During our first literacy block some students worked on their fluency with reader's theater. Reader's theater is like a play, but we only use our voices. Students worked on four elements of fluency: smoothness, accuracy, pacing and expression. We recorded ourselves on Wednesday and listened to see what we needed to work on. We then recorded ourselves again on Friday and WOW! What a difference! Here are our two final recordings, Soapbox Burnett and Jumping Off At Independence.
Give your child a great big hug tonight. The class got an O++ in Technology today!
Remember to come to Forest View tonight from 6:30-7:30 to learn about what your child will be studying this year in third grade. We will start together as a whole grade level in either the cafeteria or media center and then around 7:00 we will come back to the classroom. I hope to see many families tonight!
Tomorrow morning at 9:15 students will take the Beginning of Year (BOY) test. Please make sure your child is well rested, eats a nutritious breakfast, and is on time for school. Please remind your child that this test is NOT a part of their classroom grade and will not go on their report card. If your child is late (past 9:15) or is absent tomorrow they will take their test on a different day with other students who also were late/absent. If you have questions that were not answered on the handout that went home with students please contact me and I will do my best
Please join us on Wednesday, September 18th from 6:30-7:30 to learn about what your child will be studying this year, ways to help them and have questions answered. We will begin with the entire third grade team in the cafeteria and then break into individual classrooms. I look forward to seeing you then and as always if you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact me earlier!
We each designed a t-shirt to tell the class more about ourselves. Some of us drew sports teams that we loved, others drew their favorite activities and some people included the favorite colors of family members. Can you guess which shirt belongs to your child? What can you figure out about the students in our class?
Check back often to find out what we are learning, important dates and events at school!
